    Hi,

You can try to enable the registry editor by the following two ways:

    1. Click Start, Run and type this command exactly as given below: (better - Copy and Paste)

    REG add HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System /v DisableRegistryTools /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f

2.DisableRegistryTools value corresponds to the Disable registry editing tools Group Policy
User Configuration \ Administrative Templates \ System

Click Start, Run and type GPEDIT.MSC to launch the Group Policy Editor, Now goto User Configuration \ Administrative Templates \ System and set the policy (Prevent access to registry editiing tool) to Not Configured.

    Hope this help...

If the above does not work it's possible you have a trojan that has disabled some things...

I suggest you go here: G4 Tech Support and try the online scans in the section Web based Virus and Trojan Scanners...

Also if you do not already have them I'd download Spybot Search & Destroy, Spyware Blaster, AdAware SE, & Ewido Security Suite...You can find them on the same page under Adware, Spyware, Trojan, and Hijacker Scanners Look for the "Free Personal" Versions and download then Install and then search for updates so you have the latest... Then one by one run them and get rid of any Nasties they find...

on your user select menu at the start up, press twice [alt+cont+del] and you will be taken to the real admin of the xp os, from there, try the steps suggested in the earlier post!

but then, perhaps a virus did change your settings, try to get an antivirus, panda antivirus helps to restore the settings, so you can try that!!:)
