I hope this is the right place for me to get help. Currently, we are now running a new website that is about gadgets for Apple. The problem for us is that to find a good "writer" to edit product description. It is not like people write on blog but on some simple products. People we test complained that there is no more to describe such simply products. The only way they can list is the "Features" on the products. And I require people who want to do this job should write with his ideas on the products. That is we call" the original contents". It will do good for Google and other search engine to index our new site. Do people have the same experience with us? How to help a new flash university student to learn to write a good product description even they are given some very simple products?
I think this depends on how much you're asking for as if you write a features description its not too hard to write a paragraph of your own "personal opinion" you don't actually need hands on with the product itself
I think you should make your expectations clear to them. When one gets to know your standards, they work towards it.Communication is key for every work to be done perfectly.
"This is the one everyone's been asking for. The latest version of the gadget2011, the D400 model. It comes equipped with 6GB of storage but you can upgrade it to 10GB for those of you who frequently use the built-in camera and video recorder..." It's hard to write product descriptions when there's little information to start with but not impossible. Go back to basics - who, what, where, when and how. Who will use it? What is it used for? What makes this particular model different? When it is available? How can it be used? How can I get one? etc. It's all called salesmanship and it's what separates an experienced copywriter from a newbie. It's also why professional copywriters charge more.
