The question of adding videos to a BANS store was asked in the BANS forums, which I answered, but wanted to post it here, as well, since it's very easy to do and really adds great content to your BANS store categories. It will also keep visitors on your website longer while they watch the videos. I hope this tutorial helps. How to embed a video from youtube.com into your BANS store or catagory. 1. Go to www.youtube.com and find your video. 2. On the right of the video is a box with information about the video (author, category, tags, URL, and "Embed") Copy the code in the "Embed" field. 3. Now, go to your BANS admin and open the Content or Store page where you want to place the video. 4. In the Content box (with all of the icons) click on the < > icon. This will open up a new window with the HTML code of the page. 5. Paste the Embed code from YouTube in here. Click OK at the bottom. Note: IT MAY NOT SHOW UP IN THE CONTENT BOX, but it will show up on your page. 6. Save the Content page and you're done! I just added YouTube videos to one of my newest BANS sites. http://www.cookingappliances.org Here are some example categories that I embedded related videos into. http://www.cookingappliances.org/Small-Kitchen-Appliances/Blenders http://www.cookingappliances.org/Tools-and-Gadgets/Cake-Decorating http://www.cookingappliances.org/Small-Kitchen-Appliances/Blenders http://www.cookingappliances.org/Tools-and-Gadgets/Rolling-Pins-Pastry-Tools You can also install a banner rotation script such as OpenAds. Using that, you can have multiple videos rotate with every pageview. Example page with OpenAds: http://www.cookingappliances.org/Bakeware/Casserole-Baking-Dishes Hit refresh to see the videos rotate. BANS is very versatile when it comes to adding content. Be creative and make your BANS sites unique! Enjoy!
Hi OMI, I saw your post on the BANS forum. Thanks for that info. I looked around YouTube, but can't find anything relevant for any of my sites.
That looks really nice. I love the idea of embedding videos into a website. It gets visitors to stay longer, and their eyes do tend to wander while watching the video, which is going to lead them right to the ads.
