how to eliminate content/category page in joomla?

I am in the early stages of creating a joomla based site and one thing I would like to eliminate is the

    ..../content/category page

I would like the link from the .....content/section

to go straight to the ....content/view page (the page with the article on it).

The .......content/category page that I want to eliminate is the one that has "item title", "filter", "order", "display" etc on it.

It seems to be an unnecessary step for a user to get to the articles so I see no need for it.

So, how do I get rid of that page for each section?
