I am thinking about how to use Craigslist to build backlinks and traffic, but am unsure how to get started. I don't sell anything on my site with the exception of affiliate products and just use my site to provide information. Can anyone give me advice or an example of how to use an add to benefit my site? Thanks in advance!
You could post an ad offering something to your target audience and then provide a link to your website.
Craigslist users are very sensitive to spam, so be careful that your offer is relevant, and don't post to too many categories at once or you'll just end up with the posts getting deleted.
Any high traffic sites that you can get exposure to are worth posting in. Something like Craiglist is especially good as you can reach a lot of potentially targeted people, for free. Etali is spon on about the perceived spam issue - be selective and sensible when posting, and try not to sound to hypey... There's a great article about this at PureBlogging. It's the best I've seen when it comes to legitimate promotion methods: http://www.pureblogging.com/2008/01/10/how-to-use-craigslist-for-blog-promotion/
Hi everyone, Posting on Craig's List seems to be time intensive to me. Anyone know of a service or someone that I can outsource it to? all the best, Hans
Hans, Craig's list posting services are usually spammers, but you could hire a freelancer (elance.com) or virtual assistant (getfriday.com) to help out.
I am still trying to figure out the whole Craigslist thing. For me it has not been a really good source of traffic, but I do think it is a great site to get a great high PR backlink from. When I launch a new site I always post to Craigslist. This helps you get it indexed faster becuase Google crawls CL frequently. There is a neat trick you can do with your email that lets you post as many times as you want. If you put a + after your email and before the @ it recognizes it as a different email address but will send it to your real email. You can just put +1, +111, +1111, etc... and keep posting over and over.
Daniel, Don't they keep track of your IP address instead of the email. Your solution seems too simple for them not to have caught on to it. It would be great if it works thouhg. donrock
