the way people earn with twitter is by getting a bunch of followers then spamming them with status updates that refer them to a site or someplace where you are trying to sell something.

Affiliate marketing is one of the best usage of twitter/facebook. If you are good at marketing, choose this idea otherwise create twitter ids, get few thousand followers and sell them.

well, i tdon't belive people is taking money DIRECTLEy from twitter, i think they mean that they make money with it because they promote and advertise their products there! so it is not a direct way to make money online but it is a way to make money online got it? lol

and even you have everything in place..you cannot make monetary use of it..until you are contacted by some big brand or any company to tweet about their newly launched product....That is only possible and entirely depends on what kind of posts you tweet..which area you target....so there are so many algorithms..
SO people use it for their own promotion..of their products or website or brand rather than looking for someone who will pay you..

I got my account canned a few months back. I had started an acct a few years ago and hadn't touched it and then came back to try to do some marketing. I would reply to people's posts and or mention them and use TinyURL to drop affiliate links. It only took 3 days and maybe 50 tweets and they banned me. It's not like the old days.

I think the best thing is to build a reputation instead of trying to sell. If you do it that way and post a link once every blue moon, then it should be okay.

Maybe it was link shortener they hated. It might've been something with TinyURL. Maybe they wanted me to use something different.

Oh well, you live and you learn.

My friend has around 200k followers and all from her country. She makes money by tweeting sponsored tweets paid by the local companies.. Earning around 1000 per month..
