How to earn from directory?

Hello

I am planning to open a directory. I was planning to ad adsense to my directory but somebody told me that was not good idea. I wonder why?

SO Besides putting featured links or sponsored link, Is there any good advertisement that can be add in the directory so that I can earn decent amount when someone clicks or make sales or something??
Any recommendation for such programs?

Start by programming your mind to work 365/24/7 as that is a base minimum needed when you start a directory

Some of the next posters will answer your question re the adsense etc

once you have steady traffic and pr bar,
then you might make $$$ from paid submission.

 

You can sell the Link from your directory to other webmasters

 

maybe thats why Google is not so cool with general directories, because they are not making any adsense money just a guess

You will make only a few dollars a week with AdSense. People using directories do not generally click on ads, especially Google. Your best bet is to create a quality directory and make money on links and banners.
