um... why don't you look around this forum? there is a lot of answers. and I mean a LOT

basically, it all comes down to this:

quality content attracts quality traffic which in turn generates quality earnings from quality clicks.

Blogs tend to generate low payouts; a lot more than web sites do. If you place some affiliate programs on your blog, you don't want to miss a higher commission sale for the sake of a couple cents from Adsense that takes your visitor from the blog.

It is going to depend on your blogs niche, but I wouldn't worry about Adsense much for a blog. Work on affiliate and advertising links.

I would look for some good affiliate programs at Commission Junction and Linkshare.

You may consider selling someone elses e-book or software by joining Clickbank.

Apply to affiliate programs that match your niche. You can't expect to make anything if you using an affiliate program for golf clubs on a web site about football.

Be choosy and don't do too much at a time. Apply to one or two and work them well. Once they start generating some income, maybe join some more.

Two things that I always consider when joining a program is:

    1) Look for pay per sale affiliate programs that pay more than 2% per commission. Pay per leads are hard to come by, but definitely worth your attention. That means, if they fill out an application or something like that, you get the commission. You would not find any pay per clicks anymore because of too much click fraud.

    2) The longer the cookie remains on the visitors computer, the better. 90 days is really good.

This is very true. The last sentence is what really caught my eye. You're going to have to have a lot of patience.
