How to Drive Traffic to a Racing Tips Site?

I have been betting on horses for quite a few years now and have been offering a tip service for eight months now (shown a profit in seven of those eight months), recently I decided to create a website to increase my business.

I have set up a website that offers both a free tip service and a premium tip service.

I have set up a Twitter account, Google+ account and a Facebook fan page.

I'm interested in ways of gaining traffic to the site. I don't know if blog commenting is going to work with this as the horse racing sites you can leave comments on don't allow website links.

What would YOU do if you ran this site? :)

Since you have demonstrated that the business can be profitable, I would suggest looking at either FB or Google PPC ads to drive targeted gamblers to your tips. I would also consider starting a free weekly newsletter with one free tip each week as a teaser to your full service.

By the way, I only gamble on Jai Alai. ;)

As I mentioned in my original post I already offer a free tip service, this involves people signing up to my mailing list and then they are given a free tip every single day straight into their email inbox. :)

Do people pay attention to Facebook ads? I have to admit I've never clicked or been remotely interested in any of the ads that have come my way, even ones on subjects I'm passionate about ans they come over as scammy. If they work I'm willing to give it a shot. :)

    Hi,

Have you ever thought about setting up a TV channel for viewers to watch the racing and OR - YOU giving out your tips? Also you could add some youtube video footage of older races .... and so on and so on .....

.TV is becoming a very big business on the net and my thoughts were that you would gain some influence in the market through this,

Shoot me a PM if you like ....

    Just a thought :)

Set up a blog. It doesn't have to offer tips - it could just be commenting on big races, upcoming events or other racing related news.

I'd start doing some paid advertising. If there are some betting forums join them and participate. Start a blog around the topic and highlight your website as the main attraction. Youtube for sure (that should be easy - especially if you give demonstrations). And also consider JV marketing. This can help you make alot of money.

Do small tests of everything, then buy more advertising of what converts best.

Social media profiles are a great start. Make sure you're posting quality, original content to each profile on a daily basis.

I think Yahoo Answers. Many people go there every day asking questions need help and wanting tips. Perhaps you can share your knowledge about your niche on this popular free platform. Just be sure not to spam your link on every single post or your will likely get banned.

In this Twitter will be better and try buying Ads on mobile networks for providing people with Tips while they are on the move to drive traffic for website.

You almost answered your question. You mentioned you were betting on horses for years, right? In time you were doing it (or if you still do it), where were you spending your time trying to figure out on which horse to bet on? Have you met any people who became your friends? I'm guessing you did, in case you were socializing when you were betting before. You are practically your own source you can explore.

I'd probably start with exploring forums and communities where people ask questions regarding online gambling, betting on horses and similar stuff. You can show your knowledge over there and if you present yourself as an authority, you will start building an audience of thriving fans. Betting is an addiction. And if you know how to help those addicts win their money, you will become their addiction. And, my friend, those fans are the best. They are wiling to spend thousands on a premium tips just to get what they want.

But the problem is where to find such communities?

And as always, there is a solution to every problem. I don't know if you ever used tool called: ''Google Alerts''. It's pretty useful. You can set up terms like ''Online Gambling'', ''Betting on Horses'' and let Google do your dirty job. After you set up your terms, you will start getting emails in your inbox every time when someone posts something on Internet that has your terms in it.

After that, I'd go for long term traffic building. And that would be the famous ''SEO''! I really don't think that there is high competition for terms and keywords you are trying to rank for. If you throw couple of strong backlinks, develop an active and engaging social media community, you will be ranking high very soon.

There are thousands of different methods you can explore. If I were in your shoes, I'd be already killing with the traffic and rankings.

By the way, I wouldn't spend any money on PPC in case your terms are not really competitive. Regarding Facebook ads, a good research before using is a MUST!

If you want, you can PM me. Maybe we can discuss more about this privately!

    Hope I helped you!

    Have a great day!
