How To Drive More Traffic To A Gaming Site ?

    Hello Guys,

I have been using conventional methods such as SE and directory submissions, link purchasing, link exchanges, forum promotions, signatures, word of mouth etc. to get traffic to my arcade games site.

What other "legitimate" methods can you recommend to drive more traffic and players to an arcade games site ? I have been looking at Myspace but those online friend/dating networks is something I am really not interested in at all hence I wouldnt' know where to start.

Thanks in advance for all recommendation, ;)

The more Backlinks you can get the better... I'd also try to go for the top Game sites and swap links if you haven't already...

Join Forums that are related to your Game site and put your link in your sig and post alot on subjects you have an opinion about, but don't tell people to visit your site or the MODs will prolly Ban You Immediately.

Viral marketing is a good point for gaming sites I guess.

A game so unique - and funny, challenging, related to a current event, etc - that people will share it.

Your job is to develop this game - the tough part for sure - and to help people widespreading the news.

If you can make games, then why don't you make a few, add your link to them and then give them away for free.

I am not a flash game developer myself but I got quotes from developers such as miniclip for custom games and I can tell you that you need to be looking at spending a low $xxxx amount to develop a decent game with your own brand.

Miniclip is a site that I wouldn't get a game from. This is because they would be competing with me and most probably will allow you to get a game branded but not allow you to distribute it freely accrossed the web as they do that.

I also asked online gaming sites if they can brand games for me and they said they could. I then asked them would I be able to distribute them free to other sites and they said NO.

This is because when they brand a game the only change a few things and if every website listed that game for free then they would not get much business, if not any for that particular game.

Plugs have worked best for me followed by adwords and a few other sources of penny clicks.

im in the same boat as you, I think it will just take some time

My site www.thebossisaway.com just started to get decent traffic. I did the same, link exchanges with other arcades and site sin the same genre, directory submission services and lots of word of mouth and forum sigs etc

I also seo'ed th site a bit with key word placement and im thinking about adwords campaign.

You might want to reconsider the creating a cusom flash game for your site. I just had 1 made myself pretty cheap. its the Dick Cheney Shootout on my main page, take a look and if you lke it I can forward you to my guy who made it

    good luck

YouTube is nice but the traffic is not aimed on playing - usually people come there to watch video and have fun
