how to do this in PS?

    Please take a look at releasetravel.co.uk ...
    notice the 'mission statement' has a white background.
    how can i replace the white in this background with a picture?
    i have the original white background in psd?

    Pretty simple I think. Unless I understand something wrong, just open the file in Photoshop, and paste whatever picture you want directly over the white background...

    no that wont work. The white background isn't a square image ... it has jagged edges.

    Put your image in a new layer above the white background, and then Alt+left click on the same time on the border between the two layers.
