Hello, I have a client that wants to put a 4 GB - 1 hour video on his site. I told him he'd have to upgrade his web hosting plan for more space - besides it taking a user too long to load. The client said he'd use some program to reduce the size. How small should the file size be to be reasonable? And is there something I'd need to do to make it a streaming video or do mpg's do this automatically? Thanks.
you could convert it into FLV file and use flash player for streaming. adobe flash has built in flv encoder. 4 GB is a huge size you can try some free streamers to deliver the content, rather than buying a server. you could also split the files and use youtube to create a playlist and play in your site.
if you want to do streaming video on website, you can try this video to flash converter, it is able to convert your video to Flash files (SWF and FLV), it gives you full control over the converting process, free to customize different video, audio settings and output files. with it, you can make streaming video like youtube
It's suggested to use Flash technology. You can convert your video to FLV and use Moyea Web Player to generate a web FLV player for the video.
What for me, i prefer use Mac FlashVideo Converter It's prog for converting different video format to flash video files .I like this simple program.
