It's very easy to market yourself on internet but you to just work littile bit hard to achieve in the first stage. jut open google and type free classified ads website , you will get many websites where you can market your product free of cost and very easily.
You're going to have to work out what you are trying to do. For instance I love niche adsense sites, but they aren't for everyone. Other people like to create forums, sell physical products, flip sites etc, etc. To get a meaningful answer you are going to have to be more specific
Basic HTML is completely unneccessary to internet marketing thanks to WordPress Joonlah and all the other free blogging platforms out there. Just find the right knowledge, try some systems and find something that works for you.

First figure out what you want to do in internet marketing.. theres article marketing pay per click, learning how to build a website, search engine optimization come up with a plan then execute it.. the best thing you can do is take action.. if you are just starting out read as much as you can here or join other I.M forums to learn more of the basics or get yourself a mentor...
Your question is very broad - too hard to answer in a post. But you must make a plan to begin your traffic/marketing techniques whether it be article marketing, social bookmarking as a tool or whatever. Choose one technique - work it - become good at it -- and then schedule time in your day to approach it! Then go on to the next technique and do the same. You must analyze what works best for you and your niche. But remember to give it time, lots of time - to work. Good luck!
You need a plan and to get a plan you need knowledge. Do you want to sell services? Be an affiliate? Create products and sell them? Find a niche and sell to that niche? First you need knowledge of what and how. Reading forums like this one is very useful as there are many marketers very willing to help you. When you find something that works for you, keep doing it. You say you have much knowledge about html, then you are waaaaay above most people. Maybe you can sell that knowledge and help people and make money. Then, after you have made some money, try some other things to create another income stream. Best of luck Jasmine Lane!
You can do Internet marketing by getting a free blogger blog, joining programs such as the Amazon affiliate program, write reviews on your blog with your affiliate links on them, join similar blogs and leave comments with a link back to your site, write articles to some of the top article directories, and ofcourse leave a link back to your site in the resource box, the more you do this, the more traffic you get, and the more traffic means chances of conversion/sales for your affiliate product
The biggest resource is YOU! You can do a lot of marketing without spending money if you put in the work.
You're on the best resource....DP! But seriously, the best thing to do is to read up on these forums, then try stuff out. The sooner you get going the sooner you will succeed and achieve your goals.
Blogger is really good. It is a Google product and Google loves her babies. What golfpro1 wrote is very accurate and simple to do. And it will make you money. DP is a very nice place to hang out.
There are hundred ways to market yourself online but the question is what do you want to market? From there you can analyze the best ways for it. Do you want to market your own products either physical or virtual? If so, then make a plan and marketing strategies that best fits with it. Focus and patience is the key.
There are a lot of online marketing methods. My favourite are forum posting. Video marketing is another great way to promote your site. Social marketing is about creation good relationships which gives you the opportunity to share information about your business.
Prepare good quality, then promote to forums, blog commenting, guest blogs, social media, bookmarking sites, buy ad space on high traffic sites, submit to directories, build good relationship with online friends and a lot more.
I think one of the most important resources is training - making sure that you actually understand what you're doing, by learning from the experts - it's really worth investing some time and money in educating yourself in any areas you're not sure about. There's lots of free information online, but it can be a worthwhile investment to pay for some coaching or mentoring, depending on what your needs are. Lots of people come unstuck because they don't really understand what they're doing. I think the other really important resource is a good quality auto-responder if you're going to build a list.
