    Hi,
I am new to both this forum and IM, and I am choosing health as my broad line and mental health as a niche, within mental health I am looking into even a narrower line to promote however, when I go and enter BOTH my narrow(all possible keywords in my mind) and my broader ones, I see somthing like 3-2 4 millions of competing sites appear as google results. I am not decided yet on what narrow niche I should work simply becasue of all those sites that come in millions every time I type some new sub-niches. some one told me only worry about the 10 sites that come first, but this is what I found so far as results:-
e.g for one subniche:-eventhough it says "low " for competition: top of page for google results = 11,900,000 , - global monthly = 550,000, local = 386,000 on the right side of the page appeared only one or 2 pages?
my questions; is the health field too competitive for me to enter as a newbie? I spent some 3-4 months searching and just wasting time reading stuff.
Is it easier or more suitable for me to start promoting some amazon physical health books? I am not sure if this whole mental sub is even profitable to do?
-is it true that people go to some more recognised authority website e.g. md.websites to seek help for their health stuff?
-do you prefer clickbank over amazon stuff? i know amazon's commission is very low but t this very early stage of my affiliate work I need to put my foot on the right direction first even if the commission is low and I know I can't do this before I learn how to search my keywords?
    thanks so much in advance.

Hey! Sorry I'm not sure why nobody has responded to you yet. Could be because I don't think your post is related to "Google Analytics". Might have been another part of the forum that would be more relevant as well as more used.

Regarding your inquiry. When starting a new site(especially as a novice), it can be impossible to be found with keywords in your niche. You have to realize that there are a bagillion other websites out there which are established and optimized and older as well has having a ton of backlinks.

Not that I know too much about the health niche or anything, but I don't think that it would be too competitive for you to start out in. But I think in starting out and as being a novice it would be a good idea to focus on phrases.

By that I mean don't try to focus on keywords like "health" or "health books" and instead focus on people who are searching an actual sentence. Also I would not recommend worrying about how many sites appear in Google Results. Also, when dealing with certain phrases, a lot of the time those search engine results are not even that relevant to what is being searched. So all you need to do is optimize your webpages as well as having a decent keyword density and you'll be able to conquer those search engine results.

So again if I were you I would continue with your health niche but focus on phrases and keep working on it and building your pagerank and then slowly start to focus on more competitive keywords/phrases in that niche.

"https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal" is a good tool to use. Search in there for lower competition phrases to start with and then focus on them

    :) Good luck!
