Hiii Guys, Doing a SEO of the flash based site is very difficult because crawler does not read images and flash files. Here ques arise then what to do? As a SEO we can put alt tags and title tags img tags and embed tags that makes it ready for web crawler. It is a good news for all that Google have improved his indexing technology as now they can read flash files and can index them but it is now in development phase so there are some limitations that crawler can only crawl text from flash file not images. There is another way to do SEO of flash website like we can create alternative HTML page which can be crawl by Google bot.
The web crawler does read images via the title and alt tags as well as the name of the file. I actually think a fully flash website is slightly outdated as now so many people are using mobile devices to access websites where you cannot see a fully flash website, as well I have not seen a fully flash website that is able to rank well on any search engine. If you integrated some html/css into the design you could make the website still look great but also be able to optimize it.
The search engines cannot read flash sites, nor can mobile browsers. So, for SEO purposes, it'd be pretty hard to rank a fully flash only site. If you or your client must have a flash site (for whatever reason), it'd be wise to also create a non-flash version.
Why mention adwords when he is asking about doing seo?? He wants rankings, not paid traffic. A website can rank well despite what content they have on their pages. You just have to get enough quality links to overcome that.
it was a time when flash and frames containing websites were not able to get ranking in google..........but google has now officially announced that websites containing flash can now be ranked as they have updated their crawlers......
I also read this news in google webmaster blog. But for ranking factor, backlinks are very important.
I suggest you read a very valuable article that helped me progress with some of my clients flash websites (eeek!). His name is Jonathan Hochman and he's completely on the ball about this stuff...hopefully this helps: http://www.hochmanconsultants.com/articles/seo-friendly-flash.shtml Code (markup): Personally, I dislike full-flash websites and as primeelite suggested above, they are quite out-dated and should only be used minimally in my opinion. - A
Google and to some extent Yahoo, both have updated their crawlers to be able to parse through SWF files. However it has only been a few months since this has started and the depth of the spiders crawling ability is still being determined. The other issue is that if you embed Flash on your site using JavaScript, your flash files will be ignored entirely regardless of their ability to now crawl Flash because they cannot parse through the JavaScript. What others have failed to suggest is what I recommend for my clients that use Flash. What I recommend is to embed the Flash using the SWFObject Method (look it up). This will allow you to embed plain html text behind the flash that spiders can read. I have used this method with dozens of my clients with tremendous success. This is not a Black Hat technique if you only embed the same copy that is found with the flash file itself.
