A customer wants to have a better position with a keyword (he has already a great position, but he wants more...). So he need a bit of extra link building to have better position in serp(this niche is very competitive so on page is not sufficient). He asked me to do a Link Building Analysis to find good link opportunities. How can i structure a good report? I need something like a Seo Audit for link building.

    Thank you!

p.s. If you have examples for a "link building analysis" please post it. Thank you!

I guess "analysis" could work two different ways. Does he want you to analyze the links already pointing in? If so, something like Ahrefs or Majestic would be ideal. Otherwise, from what it sounds, he is wanting you to analyze other competitor websites to see what links they have coming into them in order to find new potential places of building links? If that were the case you could use a website like SEMrush to analyze links coming into competitors.

What exactly is his/her idea about the report? Investigate links his website has now or new one's? In both ways use Ahrefs or OpenSiteExplorer.. Check top backlinks, give his advices to use Social Media sites too! Don't forget to investigate TOP 10 (or even top 20!) websites for his keyword (or even related keywords, if you have more time doing this report!) and check their backlinks! ;)

The importance of link quality in SEO cannot be overstated. Before you begin any link building project within SEO, you must be sure you’re pursuing links that will not only have an impact today, but will continue to have a positive impact in the future.
That means understanding what makes a quality link, and why. Let’s take a look at the elements of link analysis, which are:

    1. Relevance
    2. Link Type
    3. Authority
    4. Location
    5. Smell Test

If the company is about "Furniture" It is better you to make back-links to the company site from those site which publishing "Furniture" Information's . Other wise the link is waste and the company site will lose their Domain Authority .
