theme is already showing summery and read more option. every theme show certain words in summery... like some themes shows 160 words in summery. Your article is very short thats why it show whole the article in summery. if you still reduce the word, don't try to change php code. simple ways is, while writing article...copy some word or lines that you want to display in summery. paste that words or line in "excertp" option. then publish article. and done. with excerpt option, you can shows word or line as much you want.
