How to determine the number of times a keyword is searched?

Since the overture tool only measures searches done on Yahoo. Is it OK to assume the term will have probably been searched at least 2-300% more since Google accounts for most search.

If I am on the first page (say 7th position in Google) for a term that gets searched 2000 times a month accordingg to Overture, how many impressions would I roughly get assumin around 30% of these check the the 7th placed site.

what do you guys aim for interms of keyword phrase, the ones that get above 10,000 searches a month or the ones that get around 2/3000 a month that tend to be easier to rank high for?

You can check the search counts via the free trials on both
    WordTracker and KeywordDiscovery yourself.

A good way to check the variable phrases directly.
