How to determine if a keyword is good or not?

How do you determine if a keyword is worthy to follow? Assuming you are picking a niche that clicks on ads and they pay ok. I mean here in retrospect to defining how tough competition is, how many competing pages, if they are hard to beat, how many exact monthly searches. I have typically went for below 100k pages but that doesnt mean the competition is easy and about 1k+ monthly searches.

Use the Google AdWords Keyword Tool and select match type [Exact]. I then look for keywords with 1k+ Global Monthly Searches

Your all problem solution is in google adwords. This the best tool to search keywords with exact competition in globally monthly searches. If you are acquiring how tough competition is then use google adwords. This will show you globaly monthly searches from the result you can easily check how many competing pages are present for the keywords you are using. Just use the google adwords tool and your all problem will be solved.

There are different factors in choosing good keywords. Is it a commercial keyword. Do PPC ads show when you search for the keyword? If it's a commercial keyword, next you want to make sure enough people are actually performing searches with the keyword. If it has decent search volume, you also want to make sure it's not extremely competitive, because if it is, you have no chance of ranking for it and getting traffic.

Use Google Adword Trend, Analytics and Webmaster to track the Keyword. It is important to know the function of your keyword that it is doing fine or not, it is highly ranked or not.

All my previous posters have shared the right approach. I'd suggest you begin working on the keywords that are low in competition. Once you've established pages with such keywords you may use the juice to push the tougher but related KPs. Google Analytics is truly quite helpful. Keep an eye on the bounce rate and exit percentage. Try to improve pages with high exit percentage and bounce rate.

It is depends on Exact searching result of the keywords. You must considered the Exact traffic at the time of choosing keywords.

Nice search volume + Low competition = Good keyword

    Competition analysis:

    "keyword" - < 300 000
    intitle"keyword" - < 40 000
    inurl:"keyword" - < 40 000
    avarage PR of top 10 - </= 3
    avarage Age of top 10 - </= 3 years
    if targeting adsense - CPC >/= 0.75c

    ignore broad search count

    Hope this helps,
    Tibor

To see if a keyword is good or not you want to look at competition, if you are fighting for top pages with Wikipedia, or some other high ranking site then it will be a lot harder to rank then compared to other things. Also make sure that you look at the PR, tags, keyword, and EMD(Exact Match Domain).

    Good Luck

Use the google keyword tool, look for keywords with low competition, and a lot of global and local searches.

Use keyword analyzing tools i.e. google keyword tool to get the information regarding the traffic on a specific keyword. Competition on ur choice of keyword can also be analyzed by these tools.
