How to detect blank ads.

    Hi all,
With everyone now designing adsense more and more into the layout of their pages, how do you overcome the fact that sometimes google doesn't send any ads for displaying.
Having a blank space can sometimes look very very silly - and it can happen quite regularly when displaying 2 or more adsense blocks.

Has anyone devised a way of detecting whether G is returning an ads for a specific block ?

Why not just use an alternate ad url that shows something apprpriate?

That's the approach I have taken at least.

I had thought that the alternate url was just for if PSA's were shown. I'm seeing many occaisions just a blank square - I'll have a play with the alternate url thingy.

Correct, that's exactly what it does.
For some reason, I'd thought that the alternative url only worked if a PSA was returned.
