How to design a logo ? First get as much details as you can get. Like name, preferred colors Think about it. Make a concept. Visualize ! Think how your logo can relate to the topic. Draw rough sketches about the concept in paper. Then go in an imaging program and execute the idea. Exposure is very important. see other artworks of different artists What softwares are needed ? Most prefer photoshop, Illustrator, Corel draw. Gimp is an image editing software for linux (GPL) For flexibility artists prefer vector based software like Illustrator and corel Draw. What are your earnings by participating in the contests upto now? For me Earning in not that important. How many times did you win the contest[won per total contests] ? Quite few times. is it a good idea to participate in the contests for new people. Yes its a good idea. If you win its good else you can add to your portfolio. My 2 cents
