I use front page to design most of my sites, yes I know it's old stuff.

but I love the new web designs out there like:

    Woot .com

    getballpark .com

    is that a blog?

Yes, those websites are a blog or CMS (Content Management System). Perhaps it is a custom CMS they had developed or WordPress with modifications added for more of a customization feel.

Alot depends on the budget you have if your able to hire a developer to make you a custom CMS. The great thing about WordPress is it's an OpenSource application meaning you can do alot of modifications. Best of luck!

The pleasure is all mine. Something else I forgot to add is if you choose WordPress for a CMS they provide alot of plugins that make your life and your visitors life alot easier. Just go to WordPress.org to obtain more information.

A lot of designers, those experienced and not, always use the same “formula” for layout and design elements. To really make an impressive and effective site, you need to fully understand what the purpose of the site is, and what the goals are. Whether the site is based around selling memberships, or just general ad-based content - the design should cater most effectively to the purpose.....

it depends on what you're aiming at with your cms. these days wordpress does almost everything on the dynamic part of the site. as for the design, try getting a experienced freelancer to do the work and even then, e proper design for a certain niche means a lot of hours of brainstorming.

Do it yourself, install wordpress and use it like a CMS. Theres plenty of tutorials online for creating a theme. It can be as advanced or simple as you like. Good luck.
