How to delete deleted files?

My PC is acting rather slow right now, I've done several virus scans and deleted unused files, I've ran ccleaner as well.

And I was thinking, there is SO much stuff on this PC I've deleted over the years, hundreds of programs I expect, and loads of files, documents, etc. I know when you delete these things it doesn't fully delete them from the PC, so do you think by removing these "deleted files" would speed my PC up at all? And if so, how would I do it?

    Thanks in advance!

Have you defrag your disk drive?

Check out the PC Decrapifier (http://pcdecrapifier.com/), also you could try running a defrag as the above poster suggested.

Have you tried clearing up your programs that start on boot? I'm not sure if CCleaner does it, but if not you can go to Start > Run > Type in msconfig and hit enter. On this dialog, Go to the Startup tab, and uncheck unneeded programs that you don't want starting up. Also, in msconfig, the Services tab. These can be a pain too. Be sure to make absolutely sure you don't need the service before disabling/removing it. Google will help you here.

Another suggestion: HiJackThis. It's a security tool. Also check out other programs on his website. And for the forums you can your HiJackThis Log analyzed, here's a list of them: http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/forums.php

And one last thing, I'm not sure if it would help, I don't really see why it would, but for "zero filling" unused space, you can get SDelete (From SysInternals, Now Microsoft) http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/FileAndDisk/SDelete.mspx, and run that. It is a command-line only tool, though.

    Hope this helps!

I second the reformatting option. It can be a headache, but if you backup your necessary files, reformatting will make a world of difference.
