How to delete a thread, report your own post? (and not infract yourself)

I opened a new thread in the wrong section earlier and when I went to edit it, there was no option to delete? What am I missing?

So I searched, and read posts saying to report your own and kindly ask it to be fixed. So I was going to do that, but I think I'm blind to the report tool also, where is that?

A bit later, I came across a thread with this banned guys post where his blog states that he was banned for reporting his own thread mess up. (which just so happened to top off a couple of other infractions.)

So if I mis-post, and the delete option isn't available, is it better to report myself, or just deleted the words and change the title to "delete me please"?


Also, although I know it's none of my business, I thought maybe a mod could look into the above users case so see if his ban was actually merited. (i'm in NO way affiliated with him/her, just a passerby with a similar interest.)
