Hi guys, I just submitted my product to clickbank yesterday and it got approved already today! Now I have to test conversions and tweak the sales page a little before I announce it to affiliates. I will create some adwords campains and submit some articles to directories etc to make some sales and test the conversions. To do that I have to first activate my product by paying the $49.95 activation fee to clickbank, but then it will be listed on the clickbank marketplace and affiliates will see it. Is there a way to do it without showing my product to affiliates? How do I delay the marketplace listing? Thanks.
Lol, I worried about this, but seriously, don't even worry about it. Unless you actively promote your product to affiliates and advertise, post on forums, contact affiliates yourself then you wont get any affiliates anyway. We were in this position and just did our own testing for 3 whole months as a live product, think we only ever got to a gravity of 3 within this time.. don't worry about it, just get approval, do your testing, no one will notice, and then officially announce whenever you are ready.
He probably thinks of the marketplace as a gathering of millions of affiliates, who are eager to promote a NEW product as soon as it gets listed there. As Sub said, unless you do some active affiliate recruitment, no one will even know that you have a product.
I think you are more concerned about getting copycats? You may not get a lot of affiliates without announcing but if you have a good affiliate area and your site "looks" good, some affiliates will try your product. Over time, the number of affiliates will increase if your product converts well - all without even announcing the product anywhere or contacting site owners.
Oh ok, you are right Sub. I won't worry and start my testing right away then! I just thought maybe there might be a way, but anyway it won't cause any trouble if I'll get 2 or 3 affiliates. My main concern was that if I constantly make changes to the sales pitch and say something gets wrong for a moment, affiliates might be pissed of at it. So it would be best to make everything ready before announcing it. Haha blackman sorry I'm just too exited now that my product got approved. Maybe it was a stupid question. Its my first product and actually I don't know much about the marketplace. And jacky, yes I also wouldn't want any copycats but I guess no one will be fast enough to create a product that quick. Thanks for your help guys! And btw do you have any tips on how to start testing conversions for a cb product? I plan to do it mainly with Adwords but not sure if it will give enough stats in short term. Should I try one of those 100000 FREE Traffic Pop-Under things? Or is there anything else so I can get lots of traffic in short time? (I don't have any of those huge email lists) This might be good to see if I need a better host to sustain if big traffic hits the site.
No. Please god do not do that. Bulk traffic wont convert at all (and then your conversion ratio will be 0%). You probably should have thought about promoting a little bit BEFORE you developed your product...but anyway... You can try using some articles or blogs to drive some free, targeted traffic. Adwords is also a good tool, but you have to know what you're doing to use Adwords effectively, and based on that last post (you asking about bulk traffic) I don't think you have that knowledge yet.
All you have to do is not put a title or description for the market place and it will not list until you do
DO NOT Buy 10,000 hits for $5... it is not good quality traffic... as you would expect when those same amount of clicks would cost you $2-5k on google.... Seriously, don't do this, its total junk and will just warp your conversion stats negatively - buy quality clicks on core keywords, write articles. simple.
The way you both said that makes it really obvious I guess. I've been hearing similar from many. Ok I'm not going into this then. Thanks for you opinion. Yes I don't have much experience with Adwords. In fact, just logged into my Adwords account after a long time, trying to figure it all out.. Now working on the keywords.., which is the main thing. I'll probably hire a freelance writer to help with the articles. And then submit to directories, create some blogs, landing pages etc. Like said, it seems very clear and simple what to do to get targeted traffic. Thanks! Wow thanks. I also thought it was mandatory, because I had to fill out that information before sending request for approval to CB. I'll then try removing it before activating my account.
This would be like an advertiser developing two full page magazine ads… one for Sports Illustrated (targeted towards young males) and one for Martha Stewart Living (targeted towards middle aged women)… only to find out that Sports Illustrated, instead of publishing the ad that they were given, published an ad that Martha Stewart Living passed along to them… and they didn’t inform the advertiser…. and, well, you can guess what happened to the conversion rate…
Another obvious tip for you..If you feel that you don't want to risk changing your sales letter in case the new one might convert less just simply divert your ppc traffic to a subpage within your site and test out the conversions. When you are certain that the new salesletter will convert better simply switch the new one from your subpage to the main index page. Rinse and repeat and you will slowly but surely climb to high conversion salesletter. Marketing is all about testing!!
