hye forumers I'm wondering how to defined a good layout for certain design such as Flyers,Website,Banners etc..is it spread out the text and graphics and make it messy enough?or must be in line?or..what? any guides?or maybe a website
it's all a matter of taste really. i might like one thing while others hate it. that is what makes my job as a designer tough. i have to determine what the client wants and still create something that is visually appealing to me even if the client wants something totally hideous. to me, a decent layout design is easy on the eyes, the colors mix well and is easy to read and understand. lines should flow with each other and offer a visual guideline as to how the document should be viewed be it for print or web. though in print work it's better to be as minimalistic as possible yet still achieve something spectacular. not an easy task... but when done right, you'll know
yeah you're right. It's hard when the client want something that we don't like..but to choose the good layout for design it's really hard for me.The colours is not the problem at all, but the layout for text and such graphics makes me confused and a little bit fussy..
simplicity pleases all and thats common knowledge, think fresh and unique, take a look at some css web 2.0 style websites and take the good elements, combine with some ajax and you should be on your way to a decent design,,
i agree about the client part, but sometimes you can meet half way with out comprising too much of the design, keeping the client satisfied but i have to admit sometimes you get odd ones that want it all there way.. turns out to be total disaster. layout design.. well there is only hand full of practical layouts and thats what we see with the 2.0 websites unless your doing something that doesn't need it to be such then i recommend being creative as possible.

Not only are they good for information, but also inspiration.
basically it all depends on the clients. But sometimes you also get to create something and it'll impress them so they get to like it too. Sometimes you have to explain to them that it needs to simple.. not too flashy or things like that. like in a website, i know of a client who loved animated gif's scrolling marquees and all that.. and i just had to say that designs like that are considered unprofessional and so old school.
