Bounce rate is always a questions or irrelevant visitors, or poor content. So make sure the traffic driven to your site are those who are really interested in your site. Then, to do a littile bit on page SEO work to make sure the website are easy to navigate. You should know people are usally very impatient when they looking through your site and if u can't attract them in the first few minutes, then, they just leave.

bounce rate just means that there was nothing else on the page that interested the user. Simply add more interesting content.

A poor design can lead to a user bailing as well. If an ecommerce site doesnt look trustworthy or secure, then they are usually gone within a few moments.

My personal thought is designs too. Easy and direct navigation is key to keeping your visitor in your website. Obviously you need some interesting info in there. However, since bounce rates occur mostly with new visitors, first impression outweights all. Work with your layout so that you get the visitor to see what you want them to see and why they should stick around.

Easy and direct navigation is one thing, but since u have already directed people to your site, then make sure they can find what they are looking for and it will be better for u to make them enjoy the stay. So they could return.

If you have a site with good content, but the visitor find the answer to what he's looking for on the landing page, this might also cause a high bouce rate. Certainly if the other content of your site is not 100% related. Not bad per se.

Bounce rate is relevant to what you expect from the page. I don't use Google analytics on my sites, but I suspect my bounce rates are very high. The fact is that I'm not looking for people to hang around my sites. All I want them to do is go through my affiliate link. The faster the better.

Obviously if you want them to stay than your bounce rate could be a problem. Make sure that you actually care about bounce rate to begin with. If it doesn't contribute to your bottom line, than who cares.

I think bounce rate is related to user experience. A visitor will decide whether to stay on a website or go elsewhere within the first three to seven seconds on the site. Website optimization can very quickly let that visitor know that the site has what they are looking for, that navigating to what they are searching for is fast and simple, and that they can trust your offerings enough to make a purchase or leave behind their contact information for future communication.
