Submit deep links of original content such as your articles ( if applicable ) or just content rich ( not empty ) categories.

Or of course popular categories where you want traffic.

I choose the directory categories which I think will receive the most revenue if they have pr on the page, e.g. business and directories, I don't know if this is the best strategy and welcome advice - useful thread.

I would probably submit all my sites if i can instead of same pages from same site :) . Thus getting backlinks for all domains not just one domain.

I try to submit links for the pages that are most popular in my directory (and that aren't over populated), plus any pages that have seen a trend of submissions, etc.

agreed. i choose the most popular categories and pages with the most content like my blog. This will encourage more submitters for these categories and also give better returns to the largest number of my customers.

    Not understanding what your asking?

I got my info from matt cutts blog on paid links...

and stonetemples comments about paid links...

    http://www.stonetemple.com/articles/interview-adam-lasnik.shtml

    the conversation starts here....

Eric Enge: What about the whole Nofollow business that people are upset about?
Is Nofollow something that you still want people to use, and in what situations?

    thx

I think --Malcolm is right. I also read that info on Matt Cutts --report paid links post. But I wonder if Malcol1 will be able to find the info from among 600+ comments on that post.

He is against single page link also ( no where mentioned about sitewide )
""And, Nofollow is one way in which that can be properly accomplished."'
He suggests adding "no follow" to every paid links.

Ok everyone, step outside the box for a moment.

1st things 1st: Cutts will not tell you exactly what is going on (Google's lawyers prevent that) + He holds no secrets. Gives good advice but he is more of a common sense guy than top secret revealer.

What he is saying is that they are trying to filter out paid outs. Whether this is true or not is irrelevant. What is important is their ability to algorithmically figure out which links are paid for and which are natural. Which links scream PAID more ... a static site wide ad or a single link on a page? Which would be easier to find via a robot?

The bottom line is to listen to your brain and not your ears. Nobody from inside Google is going to tell you what you need to do to avoid getting caught, what sense does that make. This is their business, they want worthless links discounted, they do search engines no good as they are not themed by content.

As a general rule, Matt's comments are more like guidelines than the 10 commandments.

To me its about those trying to buy thier way to the TOP of PR

EX: PR8-9-10 buying links on High PR sites for the sake of raising FALSE PR.
EX: Buying Sitewide Links To get all the pages listed withins PR.

Now matt clutts likes drama to get his blog more publicity but
it seems a few days later a higher authority then matt spoke out..

What follows is an interview with Adam Lasnik, who is an SEO Strategist at Google.
Adam has become extremely well known in the community as a new voice for
communications from Google to the webmaster community
