Hey. I was wondering. Have you ever been scammen on DP?
How to deal with the scammers? I've recently been scammed by a guy here - i worked for him more than 12 hours and then he dissapeared - and that is not the first time.
This thing has also happened some time ago when a member refused to pay, even if i did my job - and i can still proove it- and he added negative feedback?
As concerning this guy, I do not know what to do. If i add him negative feedback, he will add me too, even if i've completed my task successfully.

And due to scammers or people who drop out whithout completing the tasks from the BST section, people refuse to pay in advance. Whom should we trust?
This guy has 11 positive feedbacks. I thought he was reliable.

It's tough when a buyer/seller that is marked as reliable doesn't deliver, but it happens. You should keep in mind there is always the possibility he was run over by a train or something similar happened to him.

But you were right to go for someone with positive feedback, I always do the same even if I pay a bit more. It's still cheapre than getting nothing in return for your money/time. He might still show up though.

You know this is a tough call. In this business, unfortunately we find a lot of dishonest people. If you found the guy who scammed you here, I would report him. I do not know how much that would affect him or keep him from doing it to others, but you never know. I too have encountered people, (NOT HERE) whom I have written articles for, and after delivering my articles, NO SHOW. It is frustrating, but many times there really is not a lot you can do, other than give them negative feedback. I tried sending the guy numerous emails, accusing him of stealing my work and even threatening to sue him for copyright infringement if he were to use the articles without paying me. BUT, nothing seemed to make him budge. So, I lost, and accepted the loss. Moved on, next client. Sometimes, that is just all that there is left to do.

Yes, you are right. But you see, i've tried to speak with the mods in the first case. But they said that they can not do nothing, because it is just our ressponsability. But, what if this type of "activity" will hapen from now on? People who are hard workers will be scammed, and they will be afraid to add negative feedback to the scammers, because this might lead to a negative feedback from the scammers.
If this kind of activities will happen more and more often, the BST section will die, I guess.

    Matei,

I think both of us have an answer to this unfortunate situation. I was just visiting another forum and came across another Scammer thread. I guess there are so many con artists out there an actual site was set up. It is www.stop-scammers.com. I look at the home page and I think the main focus is dating scams, but they do talk about internet scams. Look at it and see if you find a way to report this person that has done this to you. If it is helpful, let me know, maybe I can save it for future use, although I hope I do not have to go through it again.

It is your responsibility to thoroughly research anyone you do business with here. DP is a platform -- nothing more. We don't get involved in your private business disputes. And feedback goes both ways. If a deal takes place, both people can leave feedback regardless of whether or not the other person feels it's fair. Smart business folks here also know that you shouldn't worry so much about feedback, and it shouldn't be a top consideration when reviewing people because it's not a perfect system. Instead look at past posts, reviews in past deal threads, their professional site off-DP, etc.

This thread is not only in the wrong section but it's been asked and answered numerous times on the forum already. So I'm closing it. Please search for related threads if you want more information.
