Hi! I know many Indians are posting here and I come with this: I have a new site targeting Indian online shoppers and merchant partners. I am not sure my approach for the merchants is the right one. I received poor feedback from them. What tips can you give me about approaching? What is important for them in purchaising and dealing a business? What attracts them in a business proposal? Is better to use a formal language? Do I have to insist when they delay their feedback? Thanks
This is a direct answer to the question "How to deal with Indian Partners?" Once I worked at Dubai for 5 years and had so many Indian workmates.. based on my experience, I was not okay working with them... my friend who was a supervisor in a big manufacturing plant in Dubai also sent a number of Indian subordinates back to India due to some undesirable working attitude... I am not referring to all Indians..there were some who are good but most are not... sorry
Okay here's my 2c: Indian traffic is CRAP! Most indians don't have a credit card so the only solution is phone billing. I had several sites with indian traffic before and for personally, the traffic converted the worst!
How do you mean "poor feedback"? Negative feedback, or insufficient feedback? I've done a lot of work with Indians and I've noticed that it is difficult to get straightforward feedback from them sometimes. You really have to work hard to make them feel comfortable in talking to you. Profit, just like everyone else. But, Indians seem to be naturally more distrustful of new ways of doing things. You have to appear in every way to be respectable. Indians feel comfortable doing business with large established firms and not so comfortable doing business with unproven startups. I do not like formal language, but many of my Indian business partners do. It's probably best that you adopt their language patterns, if you intend to sell them something. In many cultures, it is considered better to say nothing at all than to give negative feedback. As an American, this is infuriating. Americans prize honesty more than tact. I wouldn't "insist", as that will probably get you nowhere. Instead, I would try to make them feel comfortable enough with you to give you honest feedback. Ensure them that the deal isn't going to fall apart just because they let you know that your marketing plan looks like it was written by a hippie, your product packaging looks like your 5 year old created it, and your product itself is completely unsaleable to rational people. This may not be true, but it's important to let them know that they can feel comfortable saying anything to you.
When it comes to earning money I think India is a huge potential. They have had a 9% GDP growth this year. In 5-10 years their economy will be much more stronger, and also living standards of people will improve dramatically. All I want to say, there is a great potential of earning money from serving Indian people since its not crowded much yet. At the same time you have to provide quality services. Everybody understand what a good thing is. I am not Indian. These are just my 2 cents.
India is certainly one of the most promising growing economies on Earth. However, to become truly prosperous, the Indian citizens are going to need to force some serious reforms upon the Indian government. India is the #134th best country (out of 175) in the world to do business in, according to Doing Business: India. There is a lot of room for improvement.
ask them what they want and give some thing free with your product or servce this is work well every where ! try it and tell us !
Do proper survey, check what want. Give them good incentives... they are not only busilness minded many are emotional also. Idea of regional language is not bad one because Indians do not adopt to new things not even to new companies easily, so make them feel confortable with you and then only they will give you some business.
