Hi i need your opinion on this I am selling products that i create.I am selling online successfully 7 years now but with a lot of effort-knowledge and hard work. I am advertising my website a lot every day to have steady income. With the advertising (adwords - google display - facebook) I generate searches on my brand name, and here comes the bad competitors who are giving low price and copy my products for cheaper (of course he does not get as much traffic as i do) What would you do or what should i do based on your experience boys and girls. Anyway thank you for stoping by at my post!
not much you can do, others are willing to stoop very low hoping to run you out of business so they can grab the market... do it better, do it harder, another good idea is invest in quality SEO... not sure how scum of the earth operate, those that copy/steal do not normally invest that much in resources, and just because they are copying your methods does not mean they are making anything... or they could, at this point, you probably know more them then we do.... .
What is it you're selling? Is it a physical product that you manufacture yourself or that's OEM for you? Or is it a virtual product that's downloaded, like a book or guide? If it's physical, is it patentable? If it's virtual, is your competition stealing your intellectual property or violating your copyrights?
It is far easier for thieves to replicate eproducts then to recreate physical products, and they are not going to care one bit by copyrights, trademarks, etc...you can zap them like a fly, then they will just reappear on another host doing it all over again. In fact, I was just sent an email claiming that I could buy software for $2-$5, and i know the authors do not sell that cheaply, so what they do is collect software over a niche, then start promoting their site hoping to make sales, not only that ebooks, software, etc is collected on multiple sites that sell for dirt cheap prices.... One thing you can do is try to go after their money source, so if they accept paypal, then contact paypal, and let them know the site is selling copyright material. I think you can also report them to google, and google may derank their site, but that may not do very good if they are using other advertising methods in order to promote their site. You can also attempt to contact their host, if they are shut down, then they will just start over... really depends on how much effort you want to put into this just for snakes just to end up crawling up another vine.... does not make sense to put up a site anymore, if you have anything worth taking, then they will take it, put it on their site, and rank higher then you using your own content, and that is what scum do that cant do for themselves; this is why it is important to send quality backlinks to your content, as we all know "scum" are not going to invest in resources..... if they have to steal your content, then they may not be able to afford anything else....
I don't see how they could be doing anything underhanded. It sounds to me like you're providing a service rather than a unique product.
Are you familiar with wall stickers? It is a physical product where we "made" the design and trying to sell the decoration idea to visitors Is this a service?
I thought you were using photos supplied by the customer when you said it was print on demand. It would probably be easier to just post a link to your website.
If the artwork is original, then your competition is stealing your IP. Just be careful that you yourself aren't violating anyone else's IP, trademarks, etc., or that the stuff isn't in the public domain.
From the moment you create something original, like a work of art, it's your property. If someone else uses it without your permission then they're liable. You seriously need to post a link to your website though. I still have no idea exactly what it is we're talking about here.
I guess the OP doesn't want us to know what his site is. What is it with people being so secretive on this forum? No one wants to post links to their websites. It's like everyone is into porn or they're fronts for the CIA or something...so goshdarn mysterious all the time. Seriously, everyone be like "I can't tell you what it is I do, but I have this site you can't have the link to and I need your help and that's all I can tell you!"
I know it may seem like an obvious point to make, but I need to be clear. In order to stand out in your market, you need to know who your competition is and what they are doing vs. what you are doing. Knowing your competition like the back of your hand should be a priority and if you don’t know, start learning today. As a small business, you have many competitors. You likely have local, or semi-local, competitors. You may independent contractors or freelancers that compete with you. And on the internet, you have thousands of businesses that your customers can reach. It’s a big world, but don’t let that intimidate you. Start by knowing the basics about your competitors.
Odds are your idea of wall stickers and paintings on canvas came from another company since that's been around for DECADES. Those companies probably aren't worrying about you because you are a fly on the wall. As is your competitor since you receive way more traffic than he does (as you put it). If he's stealing YOUR artwork then you have a legal dispute. But if he's simply selling wall stickers and canvas art then there's jackshit you can do about it. I think you may not be making as much $$$ as you are making it seem if this is something that is worrying you. You should focus on building your business and marketing it. Come up with more ideas and keep moving forward. Don't worry about the others as it will just waste your time and keep you from succeeding.
Ok guys... This is the real problem --- I get very quality traffic - many pageviews and no phones (5-10) per day and 10 sales per day with 2.500 products and 1500 visitors per day. I do adwords and facebook ads 7 years now and i have very good knowledge. The only way to make visitors buy is with sales and flash sales . Otherwise they dont buy this is the only problem (just to let you know i live in country where there is an economic crisis) So you will tell me be cheaper so you can get the work.... The competitors started with low prices and high hidden shipping prices and succeed to outrank me that way and know he has taken a very big pie of the market and now they rising the prices (i believe this is a trick to take the market - Have seen this trick from a lot of big companies So whats your opinion on that
Make everything possible to keep your clients not going to the competition. Just bet on the quality, the higher the better. People will appreciate this.
