What do you mean "cut"? CTRL+X is cut.
    Or do you mean crop?

give us a bit more info on what you are trying to do (ie, cut a person from a background, cut a part of an image out, trim an image ect). That will let us help you! :)

I think we're going to need some before/after illustrations to show us what you want to do.

Please paste an image and explain.

Did you try the "Lasso" and "Magnetic Lasso" tools?

I think what you want to say is separate the image from the background, if so to make a good and clean cut you can try to use the Pen tool (press P in photoshop). This tool isn't easy tool you need some practice to use it but I'm sure if you take some time, its a very useful tool in photoshop or we can say the most useful tool in photohsop. Anyway if you have a solid background, I agree with Sachin you can use the Lasso Tool and Magnetic toll OR the easiest way is use the Magic Wand tool. If you use The Magic Wand tool, you can set the tolerance, the higher tolerance this toll will select more colors.

I always use Photoshop cut the image, it's so easy. You will see an icon on the left tool sidebars. The icon is like double "L" up and down.
