i don't think there is any secret in reducing the shipping cost. its almost like the fixed cost you have to pay it at any how. the only way to reduce it to sell the product at a bit high price.

How are you suffering from shipping costs? Are you charging less than what it costs you to ship? If that's the case you need to raise your shipping prices. If you're losing money on packing materials, you can try ordering them in bulk. Bubble mailers and cardboard mailers are much cheaper if you buy them in bulk from a supplier like Uline.

Well if you are suffering with the shipping costs, then either you have to talk to the shipping carriers to reduce the price or go for a cheaper one without insurance. The second option might be instead of shipping out one single item, do combine shipping, so you cut down on the shipping cost. Also try to sell 10 or 20 quantities at once for a cheaper price, so you have the same profit but get away with the shipping costs ;)
    Hope that helps !!!

You need to shop your shippers, USPO, UPS, FedEx, etc. Talk to the guys at the local shipping store, Mail Boxes etc, and the rest. You can save $ by sending reg. mail. But offer express for more $. Then you have to bite the bullet and set your rates. You are not doing yourself or your customers a service if you go broke. This is one of those small things that really affects your bottom line. Do not think you can lose a little $ but make it up on volume. Also have a schedule and do these tasks efficiently once or twice a week. Even considering hiring someone parttime so you can do what you do best, make $$$$$.

Put your prices up to cover the shipping then advertise ALL your goods as 'FREE SHIPPING'. Trust me... most people fall for anything that says free.. It's built into us humans, we like to think we are getting a bargain even if we are not.

I agree, sell higher and give free shipping. However, if you are selling anything that can ship Media Mail (cd's, dvd's, books, etc.) then use media mail as your shipping method. It is slower but much cheaper.

Yes by all means just raise your price to offset shipping and offer free shipping. Watch your views and sales jump just by listing it that way. Then you just need to check all your options for shipping and go with the best deal. Depending on where you are shipping to and how large, everyone has different rates. Sometimes I use Fedex, sometimes I use UPS, postal, mailboxes, etc... It might seem like lots of extra work but end result is to make money, not waste a few bucks here and there, which will add up over time.

If you want your item to have low shipping fees then try to use the carrier which has low shipping fee like USPS. USPS is one of the cheapest compare to others.

I heard some could buy discounted stamps. In this way, we can save some money for shipment. One of my friends did this. but i have never tried, cos my business on Ebay is not so good up to now. probably i will try it later when My business is becoming good.

You can save money on shipping costs if you understand a few basics of how the freight system works. Freight costs can be brought down by adopting a few simple steps every time you send out a consignment.

I think just added the shipping cost into the products' cost or get things packed in the same parcel can also help reducing the shipping cost.
As the replied above ave already mentioned.
