How to customize dir list index? (not index.htm or default.htm)

    This is hard for me to explain but here goes....

    You know when you do not have an index file on a server and are able to see the dir listing thought a browser?

    I would like to know how to customize this.

    I would like to customize the directory listing for an mp3 lecture archive site. It would be ideal if I could upload mp3s through ftp and have them listed on the site integrated into the template.

    Please let me know if you can help or know another convenient way or script to accomplish such.

    I have been trying to figure it out but I don’t even know what terms to search for help.

    There are some scripts that can do that

    it's done with php i think
