http://www.mysite.com/news/this-is-some-article-i-wrote or http://www.mysite.com/this-is-some-article-i-wrote with the - in between each word...how do i do this? is this something i'll have to manually do? or is there some kind of program or code that i need to insert into my page?
are you using wordpress or just any normal html page? in wordpress there is one such option where u can define this in html, u have to do this manually
hmmm there are several ways in this case: http://www.mysite.com/this-is-some-article-i-wrote you can create a dit called "this-is-some-article-i-wrote" in the root server and then place inside index.html with your site content
i'm just using a normal html page through my host, lunarpages so with wordpress, i can customize the page, so it won't look too much like a blog right? i'm assuming, wordpress would be the less time consuming route to go?
Heh, Website Baker supports this kind of URL development out of the box making your URLs pretty SEO perfect, you can name them anything you want. Say you have a page called Alpe d'Huez - Hotels and Apartments. Website Baker will take this name and covert the url into yoursite.com/pages/alpe-dhuez--hotels-and-apartments.php. This can be of course changed at any time too, and the changes will ripple through the entire site in an instant. So yeah, no need to write MODs =)
what cms are you using? most of the cms have permanent link sections in their control panel. if you are not using a cms, you must learn more about .htaccess
