how to create my own server (webhost)

    Hello.
    Mostly i send emailz,,
    and running small sites,,
    promoting them via newslatters.
    anybody guide me hwo to create my own server.
    I mean i hav to buy a powerfull pc,, a full time internet connection,, what else do i need.
    Anybody guide me which basic thingz i gonna need.

    You really don't need much to do a poor mans server, or one that only you will be using. I'd recommend grabbing a linux distribution and setting that up on your pc and connecting it to your internet connection. Anything like a redhat, fedora, ubuntu, etc. I'd recommend redhat or fedora for a server, but you can probably get away with any distro.

    centos is a free redhat

    google for lamp server to install what you need for a webserver

    what kind of connection is needed for such thing ? are you sure A/DSL connection is enough for running such server with many websites and may be enough if not much traffic..!?

    You will also need a dedicated IP address from your ISP and also make sure that they have no limit set for outgoing mails from their network. Many ISPs force to use their SMTP server to send emails.
