Hi there, I am so wonder why i am getting error to create a facebook page please help me. I just want to tell you what i did then please recommend me what should i do. Firstly I go to http://www.facebook.com/pages/create.php First step choose Category: and i choosed my category one then next step "Name of Store:" i mentioned my store name like "Discount Office Needs" then i added captcha code and clicked on create page and then i got this error "Our automated system will not approve the name "Discount Office Needs" because it contains a word or phrase that is blocked to prevent the creation of unofficial or otherwise prohibited Pages. If you believe this is an error, please contact our Customer Support team." So please help me why i am getting this error and st where i am doing mistake what should i do. Thanks RV
I guess the word "Discount" isn't allowed in the name. You could try another, similar word or leave it out completely.
I personally think that Facebook is one of the most user-unfriendly apps around. I am constantly confused and lost in there and I have several accounts and even manage accounts for clients. Yes, it's probably the word "discount" which is ridiculous.
Ok as per your recommendation i avoided "discount" and now i am using title as "Office Products in UK" , "Office Products" , "Office Needs" , "Office". Nah I tried it under all those words just now and you're right! FB has tightend up on their fanpages maybe ...normally they redirect you to make a group instead if they didn't like the name for your fanpage. It doesn't say anywhere why this is, maybe email them depending on how bad you want that name...I've tried other variations for you with those words but the same message comes up so I would say they have tightend up!!!

Search for vanity urls and facebook - they have stated clearly that they do want to crack down right away on the typical spammed keywords. The word office though should not be in there. You can start out by making a slighty other name, which once you do reach 100 fans can be changed. I suggest you make yourself an unpublished playground fanpage site where you can experiment.
Do you know what, it could actually be 'Office' because some trademark names are not allowed as they have been requested not to be used by the trademark owners.
Office is a generic word which can not be trademarked, but it is a typical high paying keyword. besides blocking certain trademarks, facebook has also stated they did block complete lists of words not to be used. take your fav. high paying keyword and chances are you cannot get a facebook page nor group with it and later not with the domain.

not much in there yet you can add the application "static fbml" to your page and enter normal html there then arrange it in boxes. take a look on one of my sites: left sidebar plus the extra boxes are done by such. http://www.facebook.com/pages/European-Podcast-Award/82621993680

it is very simple to create an account in facebook and its profile looks nice. according to you. facebook is networking site and it is very user friendly site just try it...
You don't need to, it is a bit misguiding. I assume that facebook did not want to go through the trouble to enhance their pags system, so they did go a different way. you only need to go to the apps directory http://www.facebook.com/pages/manage/#/apps/directory.php search for the static fbml click on it use on the left side "add to my page" and then you will find inside your page a new point of static fbml. this you call and can just enter information like in html. save it and it will be a new tab, change it to a box and you can move it to the front page. nothing more, it is quite simple
At facebook home page there is a link of creating a page at lower right side like " create a business page or fan page". Click on that and create it.
