I'm not sure abt that software part. But for a site to be perfect it needs lots of backlinks (atleast for the eyes of Big G). It makes your site superior to others as everybody is refering to you for that particluar matter (the keyword for which the link is been posted a.k.a anchor text). If a person with higher reputation refers to you, then its of big value than an ordinary person referring you - just like that LINK from a higher PR site is better than link from lower PR site which is better than link from NO PR site.
