Facebook used to be do follow. But I think recently they changed to no follow. Having said that facebook is a great source of traffic, despite being no follow.
i don't think so facebook can increase back links but if you write your adress in your profile and also in your fan page then this might help you to creat 2,3 back links......
Yes, it's a good source of traffic. Also Google/Bing have both commented that they monitor Facebook activity when determining how your site ranks on their search engines - even though they are nofollow, they are still valuable.
Facebook can't give your site backlinks because its a nofollow social network. But you can drive traffic from it by posting quality and interesting content.
To sum it up – facebook is an indispensable tool for driving traffic to your website. As already stated by others, first of all you will gain traffic by posting high quality content. Secondly you can gain exponentially more traffic by having a facebook fan page. Thirdly you can use a special facebook application for linking your website to your facebook account.
try to post your links on relevant facebook pages. Focus first on the page name and then the username of the page. If you can get a match of your keyword then try to have some advantage from there.
Hello...I want to know, if i start my new blog and i want to earn much within a week then how to get backlinks on Event Blog like Lohri now.
As far as I know, social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and even Google+ doesn't give any benefits with regards to SEO. So posting/sharing links on social media sites doesn't give any assurance of increasing your backlinks count. If I am not mistaken, Google said that since social media site is a sharing site the tendency is that people might take advantage of using it to manipulate links and generate backlinks to their site; so they decided to not take consideration of backlinks that is coming from social media sites.
Great, three years older thread started by newbie for just her two comments Anyways the links showing up on Facebook are never considered as backlinks to any site, because FB itself has no such intentions to advertise or promote your websites or business for free The only thing you would get from facebook is more and more eyeballs, those who would be interested in your niche will show up to your website.
I guess Search Engine categorise a link from Facebook as...social link...its valuable but not as doFollow links from high PR site.
