CSS3 is not supported by all browsers, so those stuff is not for the masses.

    I doubt that.

IE6 is supported until 2014... IE7/8 do not support CSS3 aswell... that's how it is

You are right that CSS3 is not supported by ALL browsers.... Truth is that almost 50% of today's internet users are using modern browsers therefore feeding to the masses that CSS3 is usable... BUT keep in mind that the other half can't see certain things, so don't rely in CSS3 for your designs.

I agree with workingsmart. There are still tons and tons of people using IE6, non-CSS3 compatible browsers, and slightly-CSS3 compatible browsers. If you can't deal with IE6 as a web developer, you might as not be a web developer. I use CSS3 on my sites, but I always make sure it still looks good in non-CSS3 compatible browsers.

I believe in using all the advanced features, but with alternative to them as well.
If you checkout this site - http://www.stunningcss3.com/ you will see versatile text effects in FF or advanced browsers where as in IE it looks drastic.
So my suggestion is always to use advance techniques with alternatives to show up in browsers who don't support them.
