First of all, for those who don't know what a favicon is: A Favicon is the little image you see in the address bar before the URL when you visit a site and is also under the bookmarks of a browser. It really stands out when a person is looking through their bookmarks. Ok, create the image you want the size of 16x16 pixels (I like to use IrfanView, just search google) and save it as "favicon.ico". It's really small so there's not alot to work with, just make it something unique to your site. Next upload the image to your "root" directory. Whatever browser you or a person viewing your site is using should pick it up if not the first but second time. That's about it! PM me if you need any help and I'll do my best.
Hi, Here's an online tool I have used: http://www.chami.com/html-kit/services/favicon/ You can take any graphic, upload it and it will make you a favicon. You can even test it in the browser. I hope this helps to all those of you not that skilled with using the graphic editing tools like it helped me...
klown, it must have been something temporarily - it works fine for me. P.S. Love your avatar - Kramer is my favorite character! My local TV station is just broadcsting the old episodes and I'm absolutely enjoying myself...
There is a free plugin for Photoshop to allow saving to the ICO format. You can find it at http://www.telegraphics.com.au/sw/
