I have some sorry loser copying my website and making a new blog on blogger with my content. I was wondering how or where I can have my website copyrighted. Some loser from blogger.com is copying my site and Google won't do anything about it. Now the guy is starting to rank for keywords so I need to do something about this. Any info on having a site copyrighted would be greatly appreciated. thanks, rob
A Copyright to your work is secured automatically upon creation of your work, you don't need to do anything further to secure your rights. Did you file your DMCA notice with Google through their "contact us" pages? Goggle does have a take down policy under the Digital Millenium Copyright Act (DMCA) and you can file your complaint here: http://www.google.com/support/bin/request.py?contact_type=lr_dmca&product=video Once you file your DMCA complaint with Google I would be surprised if you did not get the response you are looking for.
Are they copying or using the RSS feed? I know of service companies that hate it when someone else uses their RSS feed. They think it takes away from their site locally when in reality, if written correctly it will help to drive the competition back.
I checked out that page before posting this but It asked for some info about who your representing or something so I didn't finish it because I'm not a lawyer and because I have not had it copyrighted yet. You mention that "I wouldn't get the response I was looking for", will Google not do something about it? Even if I get my site copyrighted will they do anything? It's not a feed. They are taking my text and images. Thank you both.
I have just filed the necessary info with Google. Thanks for your input guys. I hope they ban the guys blogspot account and Adsense account.
Thanks for the input everyone. I reported him to Google and got the site shut down and his Adsense account banned! =)
In future, avoid this problem by watermarking your images, and making your posts an advert for your own website, so even if someone steals it, it works to your advantage. Here at http://www.digitalpoint.com we believe that copyright is paramount. See what I did there?
I use a free copyright protection that can be found at myfreecopyright.com. Every time you post a a new blog post, myfreecopyright will email you rights to your posts along with the date.
I have started water marking my images but you lost me on the rest of what you said. I do write my own post, not sure what you meant by that. -- myfreecopyright.com - I will check that out thanks. anyhow, thanks to you both.
