How to convert Users into Ad Clickers? PLease help... I have a forum related to song downloads (Hindi) at http://songsoft.110mb.com Just added Adsense and nothing is goin on there.. please help
Forum users are notorious for NOT clicking ads. Your best hope is to play with ad placement. The banner location in the top right here on DP is one of the most ignored spots. Look on vBorg to find the add-on to get the left side column, and place your ad on the top of that. Failing that, find the top of posts in your templates, and place the ad there. Also, figure out how to get the little links like Digital Point has, as I've likely clicked on those ads more then any other type, and I rarely click ads. *shrug* You may also wish to convert to paid links... footer links can at least generate a monthly income.
It shouldn't really be your users you're targeting - it should be transient visitors. You need to be very careful with this - do not put your ads behind a password on user-only areas of your forum - if you do you're bound to end up in trouble with the same few users clicking the same few ads.
You may want to think about adding additional content to your site. What forum package are you using? (vBulletin, Invision, phpBB, etc)
Funnel your traffic to capture leads and try to sell something. Presell if you have anything nice. But free downloads, I'm not quite sure if its all that profitable. Or even better, funnel them to a blog, and there you'll monetize a lot more than from your forum. How many times have you actually clicked on ads on DP forum. Not many right? You go to forums to catch up with buddies and not any info/product. So its obvious that the CTR's will be extremely low. Regards, ~G
Ok is there a way that I redirect people to some webpage of my choice before they get the links or the songs???
I can't help all that much then, as I only know vBulletin... If they have a portal/gateway then you can use that to make a main index page, and from there offer an article list. Place ads in the articles, and you'll get more guests (and more guests == more clicks, at least in theory). If you can add perks and incentives by usergroup, you can also offer special sections for subscribed members (members that have to pay to play). It's generally not a lot of cash, but even a little more is better then a little less. Start a street team to help get the word out. Put your forum in your signature (when you can get one)... Start a blog and chronicle your advancements with the site and/or talk about your niche. Place it at yoursite.com/blog and be sure to link back to your forum for discussion... Make sure you have a nice theme/skin for the site. Forums NOT using the default skin tend to draw in more members.
That's OK... you can still create additional areas, then offer them as paid areas. You can also offer downloads, if you can get the proper permissions. Then offer them to paying members only. Grab a few smaller bands that you could possibly get to offer their music for free to you. They may enjoy the recognition, and that way you'll not need to pay yourself to host the tunes. A lyrics section for paid members may also help, I'm unsure of the laws for anywhere but the US, but here lyrics are copyrighted, so should be kept behind closed doors, or be left alone...
i do click DP's ads, be uase they are relevant and give me reason to click on them .... so GET RELEVANT ADS.
Actually the songs i index are free of copyright issues... Will consider lyrics as they are free of copyrights too.... BTW how does social bookmarking help forums?
If you have decent traffic, then I would look into an eCPM and sponsorship model, rather than a CPC one, might get better results. -Michael
Earnings per thousand impressions: http://www.google.com/search?num=100&hl=en&safe=off&q=define:cpm In your AdSense overview report, it's the 4th column over, between Page CTR (click through rate) and Earnings. How many unique visitors are you getting per day currently? Do you know? Do you have Awstats or someone such you can check to see how many you've gotten this month? -Michael
Here's my main concern at this point. You're asking about a forum that isn't even indexed yet, aren't you? http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=348411 I can tell already that you are going to have serious problems. You're sounding like you are desperate for clicks, which is usually a good indicator that you won't be patient enough to do things properly. I would seriously consider if an actual forum is what you want to target as your business model. I thought that you had a forum that was getting decent traffic, but not converting with AdSense. Forums take time and energy to build up and get traffic to, attract quality visitors, who contribute valuable content, and enjoy doing so. It's not something you can force, and when you try you usually end up with crap. If you have a topic you love, and want to make a place for others to discuss it, or if you have a product and you need a place for your user base to be able to centrally communicate with you and each other, then by all means build a forum. But if you are inexperienced at it and your only goal is $$$, then I would seriously suggest looking into other avenues. Plenty of ways to make money out there. I would also do a little research: Top Ten Lessons I’ve Learned About Managing an Online Forum 10 Tips for Promoting Your Forum 10 Mistakes that Will KILL a Forum See if any of that is stuff you want to get into. So, to answer your original question: First get the visitors, then worry about whether or not they are converting. -Michael
Hi Who told you to use Adsense?? Poor advice..... Music downloads I would suggest selling music, Hindi in this case would make the most sense. Find new Hindi music, make one song available for download free and squeeze them to a sales page. Or you can push to a page of Hindi music books perhaps... You have to find what works best for your niche and not what works best for others...
add valueable pages for your visitors and make good ads placement . i believe these two easy tip will solve your problem
