You can't exactly convert an existing Wordpress.com blog into a self hosted website. You can either: 1. Use your own domain on the one that you have now. or.. 2. Set up a new self hosted wordpress installation ( on your own domain) and import your content from one to the other.
Is there a way to get the images off of the free hosted WordPress site? Exporting/importing only gives you what is in the database. And that database has image sources pointing at the free hosted storage.
It's been a while since I had to do it, but I don't remember the images being imported. I think I remember having to do my images again.
