Sometimes when we are very good at drawing Symbols and sketches, we would want to convert the same into a vector based Logo or some digital design. Can someone please help me figure out how do we convert a symbol or figure drawn on paper into a vector digital logo on the computer?
I personally use my graphics tablet, and trace my drawing onto the computer in illustrator. I know others that will scan their drawings, then use shapes, and brushes to trace the scan as well.
so do you think that we get better and unique Logos through a free hand drawing and then scanning it or using some photograph and fonts that are available on the web? Sometimes it seems like we can take a random picture on the web and play around with it a little in illustrator and then add text and get excellent results! but do you think that would look different?
I would scan the drawn image into the computer at the highest resolution possible and import it into Adobe Illustrator for vector work. Once you convert the image to vector format, you can smooth the lines and tweet it to your liking. I would suggest to trace the drawing with a nice crisp sharpie prior to scanning...
If using Illustrator, you can download a free trial version, use the Live Trace feature to turn the high res scan into vector
