I just hate the idea of contacting Matt when there is a problem.

There should be some official channel to contact Google that doesn't work through one person.

Unfortunately, the Reconsideration form in Google Webmaster Tools is the closest thing we have to this and it appears to send all messages to /dev/null.

As it is, the current system is "You're either a personal friend of Matt's or you're completely SOL."

That certainly does give the market edge to Rand and other SEO's who do happen to be close personal friends of Matt's. Next time I hire an SEO, instead of asking them technical questions, I'll just ask them how well they know Matt.

It's not that I have anything against Matt, but I can't see a corporation the size of Google having a one-man part-time complaint department.

I have never even heard of another public corporation behaving in such a bizarre manner.

Ahh... that felt good to post.

Now I had better go looking for another business to be in, as I wait for all of my sites to be silently deindexed.

That's because things aren't much different than he's presented them on his blog or as you read them in the Google Webmaster Guidelines. It's nothing new. I don't understand why there's so much fear when most of these issues have been addressed millions of times and all with the same answer.

    Absolutely bang on the money.

To me Google is not after Directories, they are after abuses of their rules.

The Directory "Industry" could be so much better, for example:

    1. Focussing on a niche

    2. Writing reference articles for that niche -to become an authority on the subject

    3. Writing up a review of the website submitted rather than just ticking an "approved" button

    4. Devising an editor based quality scoring system for listings.

I could go on but you get the idea.

    You'd be surprised!!!
Again, you'd be surprised.. We have more non-seo traffic to our directory.

You seem to have the inside scoop on Matt, do you know if he likes golf or maybe a cup of coffee?
He can't say no to a little one on one time, if I fly from baltimore for a day to discuss some stuff.

I think he is already here but in a Different DP name as it would not be possible for him to answer a thread within 24 hours

some one would have tipped him off.

Why not? And what the hell does "tipped him off" mean?

And you're wrong, by the way. He's here as mattcutts.

I hear he actually uses DP quite a bit, understand that Matt is in fact a bit of a DP junkie these days...but he usually spends his time lurking this subforum.
