How to contact big advertisers in your niche

Ok I have a big Java site and want to utlize my traffic via CPM advertising. But existing CPM solutions (e.g. TribalFusion) can not utilize the traffic efficiently. So i am planning to use remaining traffic with custom advertisers.

Here is one of the powerfull sites in my area: http://www.javalobby.org/

As you will see, they have very standard ad sizes and they have their own advertisers. I am planning to contact those advertisers (e.g. adobe) and tell them i have a similar site having thousands of visitors daily and ask whether they want to place their ads on my site too or not.

Do you think this will work? What should i do to make this work? Do you have some email templates? Should i contact them just as a web site owner or should i look more professional? Do you know anybody i can hire experienced in this area?

    Thanks.

Send first emails to not well-known advertisers (using "we" and not "I") then wait for results. If you get good results, then email well-known advertisers.

Thanks for the idea. I will try that but what will be the content of the email. Should i talk about my traffic, pricing?
