Hello everyone I have just written an article on how to clean up your computer from viruses and junk. If you're interested then read here (now you don't have to spend money at a local computer repair shop)

    http://www.gtfaqs.com/2009/01/25/how-to-completely-clean-up-your-computer/

feedback would also be great thank you :D

*edit* if this isn't in the right section than mods please move it to the correct section I had the impression that this was for microsoft which includes their operating systems look at other threads.

That is a complete and concise article but I think there are still chances that virus isnt completely removed. I suggest a complete format of the HD is a must!

True I'll add that if you still have a messed up computer than your last chance is to reboot but I doubt people will have bad viruses that require reformatting unless they spend countless hours downloading warez and porn from limewire (which probably a lot do  )

I have avast it's good for me. Of course there isn't only 1 tool just for every trojan/virus problem, maybe except a program for a $199.

If you install anything to your computer containing a running virus the it is possible for the virus to change the behaviour of the new installed software - even if it is an antivirus. I agree with bollywoodgeeks the best (but time consuming) choice is to reformat your disk or at least boot from a clean medium and make all the actions from there. If you do them from your OS with a malware then you can't be sure the malware is gone...
