    Hello everyone.
One of the most challenging things that potential bloggers face is finding a topic for their blog. Accordingly, In this video, I’m talking about:

    1) A single topic or multiple-topic blog?

    2) Criteria to choose a topic for your blog

    3) How to come up with new blog contents by using Amazon.com

    1) A single topic or multiple-topic blog?

Some potential bloggers ask if we can write about different topics on our blog. Yes, we can and it’s easier to manage than a single topic blog. Yet, writing on a niche topic is more beneficial because:

    a) It leads the readers to loyal ones who are interested in your topic and they are more likely to bookmark your blog or subscribe to it.

For example, imagine that you as reader are interested in the topic making money online. What type of blog will you subscribe to? A blog which is allocated to making money online or a blog which talks about making money online, pets, politics, and so on? Most probably the former blog is the choice.

    b) SEO of a single topic blog will be easier than that of a multiple-topic blogs.

Actually, search engines such as Google rank blogs based on brand and authority; a single topic blog has a higher chance of establishing an authority in compare with a multiple-topic blog.

    c) Having a niche topic blog is more attractive for advertisers who are seeking the sites with relevant contents to their product or service.

As an example, imagine that you are a company that produces glasses and you have a limited budget to advertise.

Do you select a blog with 8,000 page views a month with coming traffic for topics related to glasses or a blog with 30,000 page views a month with coming traffic for different topics such as glasses, cars, pets, etc?

My answer would be the first blog because I will get targeted traffic from blog 1 whereas blog 2 sends me irrelevant traffic.

    2) Criteria to choose a topic for your blog

    I) Passion: write about something that you are really interested in. When you launch a blog, you want to be in it for a long time and don’t want to lose your interest about the contents of the blog shortly after starting.

Readers recognize whether you are passionate about your topic. Actually, you should choose a topic that you have experience with and expertise in. Otherwise, your lack of expertise will be shown through. As a result, choose a topic that you are passionate about.

II) Knowledge: choose a topic that you have sufficient knowledge about because you have to come up with new contents constantly.

If you are not knowledgeable about the topic, your readers will see rights through you and will never visit your blog again. In addition, the lack of sufficient knowledge about the topic will one day result in running out of things to say.

III) Popularity: Among the list of your favorite topics, choose a theme that is popular and a lot of people want to read about. Therefore, you can predict that there will be a large market for your contents.

Some of the most popular blog topics are: politics, making money online, dating, and technology.

Remember that choose these topics only if you can offer something new and more valuable than your competitors do.

IV) Timeless: Timeless is one of the most essential toolboxes to create your blog contents. The contents of the blog must have the potential to persist. It increases the traffic of your site as it is discovered by search engines months and even years after it has been published.

    3) How to come up with new blog contents by using Amazon.com

After choosing a niche blog topic, one of the challenges the bloggers face is coming up with new blog contents. To resolve this issue, we can use Amaon.com as a way.

On Amazon.com, click on the tab “Department”.

Let’s say that your niche blog topic is about ‘mobile phones”. Just as an example click on “Books” which is under “Books and Audible”.

Since “mobile phones” are under “technology”, click on “Computers and Technology”. Then a new window opens.

On new window, under “Computers and Technology” click on “Mobile phones, Tablets & E-Readers”.

After that, on the search box, type “dummies”. The reason we type “dummies” is that the dummy series do a good job of categorizing and include a great detail of all the different parts of a particular topic.

Then, for example, click on “Samsung Galaxy S5 For Dummies (For Dummies (Computer/Tech))”.

In the next step, click on “Look inside”.

On new window, scroll down and you can see “Contents at a Glance”. This gives you an overview about what the focus of the topic is all about. “Contents at a Glance” can be used for blog categories. For example, a blog category can be named as “Entertainment Applications” and another blog category can be named as “Productive Applications” and so on. Then, scroll down again and you can see “Table of Contents” that it is in more detail than “Contents at a Glance”. In this section, you can look at all blog content ideas such as “Calling People”, “Discovering the Joy of Text”, “Sending and Receiving E-mail”, “Playing in Google’s Play Store” and so on. As you can see, there are a lot of ideas here from which you can choose as your blog contents to write about.
