Hello guys! I am relatively new to internete marketing, but I have been selling some random products here and there. For building a real buisness with a website, a list and everything I have to choose a proper niche. I know it should be something that I am passionate about.. however, anything that comes to my mind doesn't sound right for internet buisness. For example my favourite thing in the world is kiteboarding. But the problem is, it would be hard to sell the gear and it is not the best topic for e-products.. I am planning to write a good beginners e-book, but how can I compare with buisnesses that provide full instructional dvd-s that are filmed with professional riders all over the world? How can I know if this (or other possible niches) have future in the buisness.. How did you choose your niche? Thank you for answers!
Some broader niches may include: food, money, entertainment, work, health, family, love, music. I would suggest not to pick a niche that appeals to just a few people. The more encompassing your niche - the better. You will always have a room to wiggle.
Make sure you do some market research. I spend a good day or two researching my niche and making sure it would be achievable for me to get to the top spot on google for my two keywords. I had a lot of keywords and niches that I was interested in, then I ended up narrowing them down to two keywords and 3 small niches with a single blanket niche.
Research the niche by checking trends and 'best seller' lists of products in that category. Check keywords via the Google adwords tool, find good terms then do a phrase or "in quotes" Google search or each to see if there are few SEO competitors. A good term should come at 50,000 to 100,000 phrase search results, or less. Then you'll have both the niche and the best words to push the niche online.

You type the word or phrase that you want to use, and google adwords tool gives you some figures, for example, how many people are searching for that specific type of word or phrase, when you get the figures make sure that the global search is not more than 60.000 searches. Some people say the global search should be between 50.000 and 100.000. It does not matter, this is a very fluid business there is a rigid format or formula that has to be followed to the letter. It would be more satisfying to create a site using a niche that you are passionate about. While it's true that we should choose for a nice niche that can provide us money, it is also important to remember if you can sustain it and it will be beneficial to you as well. You should make sure that you are able to pour your passion into it and learn with it and through it so that it will last.
